2019 1oz Buffalo Gold Coin
The 2019 1 Troy Ounce Gold Buffalo coin is the US’s only pure .9999 fineness bullion coin. Buffalo gold coins were introduced by the US Mint in 2006 to provide an American alternative to increasingly popular .9999 fineness bullion coins produced by other countries. The coin gets its name from the impressive animal depicted on its reverse. The design is an adaptation of an image first used on US Nickel coins. The reverse also bears the inscriptions ‘United States of America’, ‘E Pluribus Unum’ (out of many, one), ‘In God We Trust’ and the denomination $50 plus the coin’s weight and purity. The obverse image is a striking rendition of an American Indian in profile by James Earle Fraser, the date of production and the word ‘Liberty’. This coin is legal tender in the USA.
Whilst these are bullion coins, they are often bought as collectibles in addition to being investment pieces.
